Give a Bike. Give Hope.
Putting bikes and hope into the hands of East Austin kids this Christmas.
This Christmas, Hope Cycle is partnering with Life Anew to provide bikes to students at Oak Springs Elementary, a school across from Booker T. Washington Terrace, the largest subsidized housing community in Austin.
Oak Springs is scheduled to close next year. Many students will need to walk more than a mile to their new school, and bus service will likely not be available. A bike can change their daily reality. It can help them get to school safely and give them a sense of freedom, joy, and confidence.
But more than transportation, each bike is a way to show that God sees every need. Our prayer is that this hope will take root in the heart of every child. Our Goal: Give bikes to 100 kids this Christmas

Why Hope Cycle Exists
Hope Cycle began in memory of Dave Birt, a husband, father, mountain bike coach, and longtime volunteer with Hope Street Ministry. Dave served the families who live in Booker T. Washington Terrace with patience and kindness. He loved the kids there deeply.
Dave passed away while mountain biking, the activity that brought him the most joy. His family wanted to honor his life by carrying forward two things he loved: cycling and the people of East Austin.
When Dave was young and grieving the loss of his father, he watched God provide for every need through the church. That experience formed a steady and unshakable faith in him. He lived without fear because he knew God would always make a way. His family prays that the children of East Austin will experience that same hope and provision.
